P.A.W. Journey — Spring 2020

P.A.W. Journey's mission continued despite altered Spring schedule

P.A.W. Journey’s commitment to developing First Class Men and World Class Leaders persisted through the challenges of an altered Spring schedule. Our scholar-athletes prepared to serve and demonstrate their skills in the professional and civic development opportunities mentioned below. Though these life-changing experiences were paused for the health and safety of our students and partners, P.A.W. Journey created innovative e-learning opportunities with industry leaders and mentors to continue growth in our young leaders.

Twenty-two scholar-athletes had volunteered to make the 10,000-mile trip to Cape Town, South Africa, where they intended to serve the local community. During the trip, they planned to partner with For the Love of Water (F.L.O.W.) to develop water conservation, collection, and access projects. In addition to their service work, the students would have been able to experience the culture of South Africa by visiting Robben Island, attending a rugby game, hiking Table Rock, eating traditional meals of Cape Town and experiencing a Wildlife Preservation. The following scholar-athletes volunteered to take part in this year’s abroad service trip:

Sixteen of our student leaders had prepared to enhance their business acumen, network with professionals and explore industries of interest in New York City alongside their teammates. Instagram, NFL, ESPN, Def Jam, and The Late Show were among the 11 companies where students would have had the opportunity to visit their offices and learn from their executives. The following scholar-athletes were planning to participate in this year’s Business Week:

Business leaders discuss their internship interviews with Clemson Football scholar-athletes

Fifteen companies offered 51 scholar-athletes internship opportunities spanning 12 states and two countries, all of which would have provided exposure and exploration into the corporate world. Google, NFL, Adobe and GE Healthcare were among the 15 companies ranging in a variety of fields that offered our students a week-long experience at their offices. Many of our former scholar-athletes are now employed by P.A.W. Journey’s internship partners due to the work and connections made during their own microinternship experiences. The following scholar-athletes accepted internship offers this year:
