CLEMSON, S.C. – The Clemson women’s tennis team was ranked 13th in the latest International Tennis Association (ITA) poll released Tuesday. Clemson was ranked 14th in last week’s poll, but moved up one spot after going 2-0 in the ITA Kickoff Weekend held Jan. 27-28.
Clemson’s two wins came against Winthrop, ranked 66th when the two teams met last week, and now currently tied for 67th, and Purdue, which improved from 40th in last week’s poll to 38th this week. The Tigers defeated the Eagles 6-1 and the Boilermakers 5-0 to win the ITA Kickoff event, guaranteeing Clemson’s spot in the ITA Team Indoors held in Charlottesville, Va. Feb. 6-9.
The Tigers return to action this weekend when they host No. 9 Georgia Saturday at 1 p.m. and No. 21 South Carolina Saturday at 1 p.m. Both matches will be held at the Clemson Indoor Tennis Center and are free to the public.
