CLEMSON, S.C. – The Tigers (1-0) began the 2025 spring season with a victory over Georgia State (0-2) in their first home match at the Duckworth Family Tennis Facility on Friday. This extends the series winning streak to 8-0 over the Panthers.
“I am so proud of our group,” head coach Boomer Saia said on the win. “Nine of our 10 athletes are new; it was their first time in a Tiger uniform and playing in this fantastic arena. Our six freshmen genuinely know what it means to compete as a Tiger. This was a great first match to get the win, with good moments and things for us to work through. We are pumped to get the first W on the board, preparing us as we head into Sunday, where we play good Liberty and Presbyterian teams. I am excited and love this group, but the best is yet to come.”
The Tigers started the season with a doubles win against Georgia State. On court three, Graduates Annabelle Davis and Sophia Hatton clutched the first win of the day against Luciana Galvez and Sara Radojevic, 6-1. On court two, No.75 ranked duo Romana Cisovska and Candela Yecora fell to Maria Paredes and Francesca Miglio, 2-6. Artemis Aslanisvili and Gaia Parravicini defeated Pragnya Kumar and Sierra Sandy 6-2, securing the doubles point for the Tigers.
In singles, freshman Candela Yecora crushed Pragnya Kumar with a full sweep of 12 straight games ending her first win with the Tigers at 6-0, 6-0 on court five. On court six, Freshman Sophie Clayton fought hard against Zeynep Erbakan in her first match but fell 0-6, 2-6.
On court 2, Romana Cisovska battled Francesca Miglio and came out on top 6-3, 6-2, claiming her first win in a Clemson uniform and the second singles win of the day for the Tigers. Sophia Hatton returns fighting this season with a 7-6(3), 6-1 victory over Maria Paredes.
Freshman Gaia Parravicini faced Sierra Sandy and came out on top 6-0, 3-6, 6-0 with her first Tiger win under her belt. On court 3, Annabelle Davis ended the day fighting, but fell to Sara Radojevic. In the first match, Davis lost 4-6, but came back in the second match winning 6-3. Fighting hard, Davis ultimately fell after losing the third set,1-0 (10-7).
