WTEN: Tigers Split the Day Against No. 10 Duke and North Carolina A&T

CLEMSON, S.C.– The No. 24 Clemson Tigers (11-5, 1-4 ACC) split the day against No. 10 Duke (10-2, 4-0 ACC) and North Carolina A&T (5-1) on Sunday at the Duckworth Family Tennis Facility. Against the Blue Devils, the Tigers lost 4-0, but came away with a big win over the Aggies, 6-1.

In doubles, Gaia Parravicini and Amelie Smejkalova dropped the first match against the No. 14 nationally ranked duo of Irina Balus and Ellie Coleman, 6-1. Shavit Kimchi and Ava Krug defeated Candela Yecora and Romana Cisovska 6-3 to secure the doubles point for Duke. 

To close out doubles, Emma Jackson and Liv Hovde defeated Sophia Hatton and Annabelle Davis on court three. 

In singles, Yecora fell to Coleman 3-6, 2-6. Hatton fought hard against her opponent, but fell 6-4,6-4. Almost immediately following, Cisovska fell to Emma Jackson 3-6, 3-6.

In doubles, Clemson and North Carolina A&T played two matches. On court one, Parravicini and Smejkalova shut out Dorsa Chergi and Juana Gomez Weiss,6-0 to secure the doubles point for the Tigers. 

Davis and Hatton closed out the doubles matches with a 6-3 win over Hana El Sherif and Randy Rakotoairlala on court two.

In singles the Aggies played a court down, and Parravicini swiftly defeated Juana Gomez Weiss 6-1, 6-0 on court four. Davis took down Rakotoairlala 6-2, 6-1 to extend the lead for the Tigers to 3-0. 

Shortly after, Cisovska defeated Hana El Sherif 6-1, 6-1 on court three. Smejkalova decisively downed Dorsa Chergi 6-1, 6-3 on court one. 

Freshman Kinsey Crawford made her debut for the Tigers on court five, battling hard but ultimately falling against Flavia Villegas 6-2, 3-6, 0-1 (11-9). 

Next Up: The Tigers are on the road against Memphis on Saturday, Mar. 15, at 1:00 p.m. ET.
