WTEN: Clemson Sweeps First Doubleheader of the Season

CLEMSON, S.C. – The Clemson Women’s Tennis team (3-0) swept its first doubleheader of the season against Liberty and Presbyterian College at the Duckworth Family Tennis Facility on Sunday. Against Liberty, the Tigers won 6-1, and against Presbyterian, the Tigers swept in an easy 7-0 duel.

“The team did great today,” head coach Boomer Saia said. “Getting two wins in their first doubleheader of the year is always nice, but watching how they did it was even more impressive. Even with so much youth in our group, we’re growing even from Friday to Sunday. It was fun to watch them take 13 out of 14 points today and take care of business, and it prepares us for the ITA kick-off next weekend.”

Coach Saia continued, saying: “I’m impressed with our fight across the board. Liberty has plenty of talent, and then to follow it up with a good Presbyterian team and go three and zero on our first weekend. I’m very pleased with the group. We’ve got a lot of stuff to learn, many good things to take away, and another great week of practice before we take it to Oklahoma State.”

Clemson 6, Liberty 1

The Tigers got off to a hot start with a quick doubles win by sweeping on courts two and three.
