CLEMSON, S.C.– The No. 4 North Carolina Tar Heels (12-3, 3-0 ACC) outlasted the No. 24 Clemson Tigers (10-4, 1-3 ACC) in a hard fought match at the Duckworth Family Tennis Facility on Fri. March 7.
“Although we lost – it was a great battle,” Head Coach Boomer Saia said. “I am proud of our group and our response to our last match. We spoke a lot this week about everyone showing up ready to compete at the highest level. If we can continue to grow from these moments, we can do a lot of special things moving forward.”

In doubles, the Tigers came out victorious with the doubles point. The duo of Romana Cisovska and Candela Yecora secured the first win by defeating No. 4 ranked duo Carson Tanguilig and Susanna Maltby, 6-4. Tanguilig and Maltby just came off of a run at the NCAA Doubles Championship where they made it to the quarterfinals. This marks the pair of Cisovska and Yecora’s highest ranked doubles win as Tigers.
Quickly after, freshman duo Gaia Parravicini and Amelie Smejkalova defeated the No. 17 nationally ranked duo of Reese Brantmeier and Alanis Hamilton, 6-4 to secure the doubles point for the Tigers. This marks Parravicini and Smejkalova’s highest ranked doubles win as Tigers.
In singles, Yecora came away with her sixth win of the season by defeating Alana Boyce, 6-2, 6-4 and put the Tigers up 2-1.
The Tigers continued to fight hard with the match coming down to courts three and four, but ultimately fell.
