Tigers Look Ahead to Last Day at Duel in the Desert

INDIAN WELLS, C.A. – Coming off a great first day of play at the Duel in the Desert, the Tigers struggled on the second day against Arkansas. 

In doubles, Sophia Hatton and ALina Tsyurpalevych lost to Carolina Gomez Alonso and Kelly Keller after a hard-fought 3-6 battle. Jenna Thompson and Eleni Louka lost to Morgan Cross and Indianna Spink 1-6.  Lastly, Cristina Mayorova and Leigh Van Zyl lost to Lenka Stara and Grace O’Donnell 0-6.

In singles, freshman Tsyrpalevych continues to shine in her debut as she wins her match 1-6, 6-2, 6-2 over Stara. Mayorova lost to Gomez in a close 5-7, 5-7 duel. Thompson lost to Keller 6-4, 4-6, 4-6. In another close duel, Louka lost to Spink 5-7, 5-7. Van Zyl lost to Cross 2-6, 6-2, 3-6. Hatton lost to Kacie Harvey 7-5, 2-6, 3-6. Lastly, Anttila had a great battle against Anet Koskel, 6-2, 3-6, 0-1 (5-10). 

The Tigers battled hard today and look forward to tomorrow’s matchup against Iowa St at 3 PM (ET).
