Clemson, SC – The 19th-ranked Tiger women’s tennis team will welcome the South Carolina Gamecocks, ranked #24, to the Hoke Sloan Tennis Center on Wednesday, Mar. 16 for a 2:30 pm match. Clemson is looking to extend its three-match winning streak over its in-state rival and record its 10th victory against six losses. The Gamecocks bring a 7-3 overall mark to Tigertown.
Clemson is 3-5 against South Carolina during current Head Coach Nancy Harris’ tenure, but the Tigers have won the last three contests over the Gamecocks. Although South Carolina holds a 21-18 advantage in the series history, Clemson has the better mark when playing at home, 9-8.
The schools met twice during the 2004 season, with Clemson posting the victory each time. The Tigers won the regular season match-up by a score of 4-3 on their home court and then defeated the Gamecocks for a second time during the NCAA Regionals held in Clemson, SC, 4-1, to advance to the NCAA Tournament.
Clemson is led by senior Julie Coin, who boasts a 23-2 overall record and a 14-0 statistic in dual action. Coin is ranked #2 in the ITA singles poll and has not lost a set in her 23 victories.
