Tigers Fall to No. 3 Georgia Tech in Atlanta Sunday

ATLANTA, Ga. – The Clemson women’s tennis team fell to third-ranked Georgia Tech 4-0 on Sunday afternoon on the indoor courts at the Ken Byers Tennis Complex in Atlanta, Ga. With the loss, the Tigers conclude the regular season at 13-12 (6-8 ACC), while the Yellow Jackets finish 20-4 (12-2 ACC).

The matches were close on all three doubles courts, but the Yellow Jackets came away with the doubles point, winning 6-4 at No. 1 and No. 3. On Court 2, Ally Miller-Krasilnikov and Tate Schroeder were tied 5-5 with 69th-ranked Victoria Flores and Ida Jarlskog, when play was abandoned.

Georgia Tech opened singles play with wins at No. 3, 5 and 6, in that order, to clinch the 4-0 victory. The Tigers had the lead on Courts 1 and 2 when the match was halted. Marie-Alexandre Leduc, ranked 23rd nationally, had won the first set over 12th-ranked Paige Hourigan, and was in a close second set, trailing 6-5, at No. 1 singles. At No. 2, Clemson’s Fernanda Navarro was up 7-6(3), 2-2 over 73rd-ranked Kenya Jones.

The Tigers head to Cary, N.C. this week for the 2018 ACC Championships, held April 25-29 at the Cary Tennis Park. Seeding, dates and times for the conference tournament will be announced in the evening on Sunday, April 22.
