Mijacika Wins Flight Title As Tigers Conclude Play At Furman Fall Classic

GREENVILLE, SC – Clemson junior Ani Mijacika won her second straight Furman Fall Classic flight one title on Sunday while four other Tiger players picked up wins to wrap up play at the 2008 tournament.

Mijacika dropped just three games in her straight-set victory over Ana Zubori of South Carolina (6-1, 6-2) to successfully defend her 2007 title in the top bracket.

Alexandra Luc fell in her flight four finals match to Federica Suess of Florida State, 6-3, 6-1, to finish second for the second time in as many years.

In the flight two consolation match-up, freshman Ina Hadziselimovic then defeated Shinann Featherston of North Carolina in the flight three consolation rounds for a fifth-place finish, while Federica van Adrichem also earned fifth place win a win over Northwestern’s Lauren Lui (6-4, 6-7, 11-9) in the number-five bracket.

Mijacika and Van Adrichem will head west for the Riviera All-American Championships. The duo will compete in the qualifying round of doubles play at the Riviera Tennis Club in Pacific Palisades, CA beginning Tuesday, Sept. 30. Mijacika will also participate in the singles main draw which is slated to start on Thursday.
