Clemson Women’s Tennis To Open Play At Duals In The Desert

Nov. 1, 2007

CLEMSON, SC – Members of the Clemson women’s tennis will open play on Friday at the Duals in the Desert for their final event of the 2007 fall season. The tournament will be held from Nov. 2-4 at the Moore Tennis Academy at the Desert Princess Resort in Cathedral City, CA.

The Tigers are one of seven teams that will be competing over the weekend, joining UCLA, Northwestern, Southern California, Baylor, Fresno State and Texas. With the exception of Texas, each of the schools was ranked in the top 15 in the final Fila/ITA Tennis poll, released last May. The Bruins head the list at #3 after their runners-up performance at the 2007 NCAA Tournament, while Northwestern was also a top-10 team last season.

Clemson will be without sophomore standout Ani Mijacika, who is participating at the ITA National Indoor Championships in Columbus, OH this weekend. However, six other talented scholarship players will make the trip for the Tigers, including former All-ACC honorees Carol Salge and Federica van Adrichem. Second-year players Ina Hadziselimovic and Estefania Balda will likely compete, as well as junior Alexandra Luc and freshman Laurianne Henry.
