CLEMSON, SC – The Tiger women’s tennis team will begin the always-tough ACC schedule on Saturday, Mar. 3 as sixth-ranked Georgia Tech makes the short trip to Clemson, SC. The teams are slated to begin play at 1:30 pm at the Hoke Sloan Tennis Center, which differs from the originally scheduled time.
The Yellow Jackets own an 8-3 record, which includes four wins and the title at the USTA/ITA National Team Indoor Championships in February. They fell to 12th-ranked Georgia earlier in the week in Athens, GA, while the Tigers posted a 6-1 win over #75 South Alabama on Thursday at home to improve to 8-2 on the year.
The conference foes have met 27 times on the tennis courts, with the Tigers leading the series score by a 21-6 margin. However, Georgia Tech has won the last three match-ups, including a 4-1 victory in the semifinals of the 2006 ACC Tournament. Clemson’s last win was a 4-3 decision in Atlanta during the 2004 season, while the Tigers last defeated the Yellow Jackets on their home court in 2003.
Clemson freshman Ani Mijacika boasts a 12-5 overall record that includes a victory on Thursday afternoon. She is 7-2 during the dual-match season.
