Clemson Notes:

  • The Tigers (2-3) are coming off a 7-0 loss to sixth-ranked Georgia last Saturday, Feb. 4. The Bulldogs’ roster included three top-35 ranked singles player and a 2016 U.S. Open participant.
  • Sophomore Ayan Broomfield is ranked No. 119 in the ITA singles rankings released on Feb. 8.
  • Clemson’s 2017 roster is made up of one junior, five sophomores and two freshmen.
  • The Tigers’ two freshmen, Sydney Riley and Constanza Gorches, have had a solid start to the spring season, with records currently sitting at 3-2 and 2-1 in dual singles matches, respectively.
  • Head Coach Nancy Harris is in her 20th season with the Tigers. In her first 19 seasons at the helm of the program, Harris took the Tigers to the NCAA Tournament 17 times, including 15-consecutive years from 2002-16.

Series Information:

  • The Tigers have a 27-24 all-time advantage in the series over the Gamecocks.
  • Last season, South Carolina won a 4-3 decision on Feb. 20, 2016 in Columbia. In that match, Clemson claimed the doubles point and earned singles victories by then-freshmen Ayan Broomfield and Fernanda Navarro at No. 1 and 3 singles, respectively.
  • The last time the two teams met in Clemson, on Feb. 1, 2015, the Tigers won a 5-2 decision.
