Dec. 21, 2005
As we prepare to celebrate the holidays and then attend the Champs Sports Bowl in Orlando on Dec. 27, I want to express my appreciation for the outstanding response with bowl ticket sales.
Our objective and need is to sell our full allotment of 12,500 tickets. Through Dec. 22, approximately 9,700 tickets have been sold, meaning we need to sell 2,900 more to reach our goal.
We’re very grateful for the great support that is exhibited by these numbers.
This support — in and of itself — is outstanding. This total has already surpassed the existing bowl record of 8,500 tickets sold by North Carolina State several years ago. It would be a highly significant testament if we could sell the full 12,500 tickets allotted to Clemson.
The reason is that bowl officials monitor this type of information. If Clemson University can sell 12,500 to the Champs Sports Bowl, which is played two days after Christmas, it sends a strong, strong message to all other bowls. It will be a significant factor on Clemson’s behalf some time in the future.
We are very proud of where we are at this juncture. The support has been outstanding all year long. If we can reach this goal of selling our allotment of bowl tickets, it will significantly help us in future bowl selections.
Without any reservation, we want our people in Orlando to support our team in the Champs Sports Bowl. However, if you can not be with us, there is information whereby you can purchase tickets that will be provided to disadvantaged children in the Orlando area.
In closing, we greatly appreciate your support this season for all of sports programs and the Champs Sports Bowl. We wish you and your family a Merry Christmas and the best of the holiday season.
In Solid Orange,Terry Don Phillips
