In Clemson’s 52-22 victory over Duke, Woodrow Dantzler had 308yards of total offense, his third straight 300 yard game. He becamethe first Tiger in history to record three straight 300-yard totaloffense games in school history. In his last three games, Dantzlerhas had at least 100 yards rushing and 100 yards passing. He is thefirst Clemson player in history to have at least 100 of each inthree straight games. Dantlzer now has 629 yards rushing and 865yards passing for the season. He is on pace to have 1383 yardsrushing and 1903 yards passing for the season. Dantzler has 520yards rushing over the last three games, 166 against Wake Forest,220 at Virginia and 134 against Duke. That total is the most everby any Clemson player in a three game series. The record was 489 byTerrence Flagler in 1986. Dantzler had three rushing touchdowns andone touchdown pass against Duke. He has already accounted for 16touchdowns this year, eight rushing and eight passing. The Clemsonrecord for a season is 19 by Mark Fellers in 1974. Thus, in lessthan half a season, Dantzler is just three TDs away from tying thatrecord. Clemson has now scored 238 points and 32 touchdowns thisseason. Clemson had 322 points and 42 touchdowns in 12 games lastyear. The 238 points Clemson has scored in the first five games isalready more points than Clemson scored in three of the last sevenyears. Keith Adamsregistered 3 sacks against Duke for -27 yards. Adams now has sevensacks in two years against Duke. He set the school record with foursacks against Duke last year. For his career, Adams has 22 sacks,all in the last 17 games. He is already tied for fourth in Clemsonhistory on a career basis, tied with Brentson Buckner. The onlyTigers with more are Michael Dean Perry (28), William Perry (27)and Adrian Dingle (23). Adams tied a Clemson record for consecutivegames with at least one tackle for loss with his three sackperformance against Duke. He has had at least one tackle for lossin 17 straight games, tying the record set by Anthony Simmons from1996-97. Clemson scored 52 points at Duke, most points by theTigers in a road game since 1984 when Clemson scored 55 in a 55-0win at Virginia. Overall, it was the sixth most points scored on anopponent’s home field in school history. The record is 73 in a 73-0win at Georgia Tech in 1903. Running back Travis Zachery scored twotouchdowns against Duke on Saturday. He suffered a sprained ankleand did not play in the second half. He should be back for practiceearly next week and is expected to play against NC State. He nowhas eight touchdowns for the year and 29 for his career. He is nowthird in Clemson history in the category of career touchdowns. OnlyLester Brown (32) and Fred Cone (31) have more on a career basisthan Zachery. Clemson had its second 500-yard total offense game ofthe season against Duke when the Tigers picked up 315 rushing and212 passing. Clemson is now 38-0-1 in history when it gains atleast 500 yards of total offense. Saturday’s game with Duke markedjust the eighth time in school history that Clemson gained at least300 yards rushing and 200 yards passing in the same game in schoolhistory. It was the first time since 1984 when Clemson had 312rushing and 235 passing in a win over Duke at Clemson. Clemson isnow 5-0 for the first time since 1987 when the Tigers opened 6-0.That year Clemson’s perfect beginning was ended by NC State in agame at Clemson, 30-28. Clemson is now 3-0 in the ACC for the firsttime since 1988. That year NC State ended Clemson’s 3-0 start witha 10-3 Pack victory in Raleigh. Clemson gained its fifth win ofSeptember with the win over Duke. This is the first time in historythat Clemson has five wins before October 1. Clemson now begins astretch in which it plays three teams over the next five weeks whodefeated Clemson last year. NC State enters Saturday’s game with a4-0 record. Each of the last three times that NC State has openedthe season 4-0 or better, the Tigers have ended their perfectseason. NC State was 6-0 in 1989 and 1991 before losing to Clemson.In 1990, the Pack was 4-0 before Clemson defeated NC State. Clemsonhas scored 70 points over the last two years against NC State, buthas an 0-2 mark against the Pack in those games. With Washingtonand Florida losing on Saturday, Clemson could move into the top 5of the AP poll. Clemson has not been ranked in the top 5 in thenation since 1988 when Clemson was ranked 3rd heading into a gamewith Florida State.
