Position: Director of Applied Science
Alex Bina is in his fifth season as the football program’s Director of Applied Science and his seventh season assisting Clemson overall.
Bina helped develop — and now operates — the Clemson Applied Science Lab (CASL), a state-of-the-art recovery and quantitative analysis space at the Allen N. Reeves Football Complex that was expanded in 2022 as part of Clemson’s “100 Yards of Wellness” project.
During his tenure, he has implemented programs to evaluate and optimize athletic development using GPS sensors, motion capture technology, augmented reality and high-speed data collection.
Bina earned his undergraduate degree in bioengineering and biomedical engineering from Penn State in 2013. He earned his Ph.D. from Clemson in 2022.
