Zimmerman Named to NFF Hampshire Honor Society

CLEMSON, SC – Dawson Zimmerman, the starting punter on Clemson’s 2011 ACC Championship team, has been named to the National Football Foundation Hampshire Honor Society. Zimmerman is the first Clemson football player named to the Hampshire Honor Society, which began in 2007.

Zimmerman, who had a perfect 4.0 in the classroom this past semester, had over a 3.9 GPA for his career. He has been honored many times this year for his excellence in terms of athletics and academics. He was named Academic All-ACC for the third time this year and was one of 10 national finalists for the Lowe’s Senior Class Award.

Zimmerman, who earned his Clemson degree in English in December, was also named a finalist for the Wuerfful Award this past year and was inducted into Clemson’s Phi Beta Kappa Honor Society. He was also the recipient of a Weaver-James-Corrigan Scholarship from the ACC.

On the field, Zimmerman was an honorable mention All-ACC selection in 2011. He averaged 41.8 yards a punt for the year with a 38.4 net punting average. He finished his career second in school history in net punting.
