Clemson got off to best start since the 1987 with a 34-27 win over NC State in 2000. Rod Gardner caught 10 passes for 137 yards including several key receptions, Travis Zachery rushed for 147 yards and two touchdowns and Clemson’s defense staved off Phillip Rivers’ late rally to hold on for the victory.
