CLEMSON, SC – Tiger fans displayed their generosity by placing donations to the One Clemson Furlough Relief Fund in “All In” barrels located at the stadium gates at the Spring Football Game last weekend. At Head Coach Dabo Swinney’s request, 24,000 orange-clad fans showed up in force on Saturday, helping to break the Clemson spring game attendance record and donating a total of $7,639 to the fund.
“I am very pleased that we were able to raise this money for the One Clemson Furlough Relief Fund,” said Swinney. “I am glad that the football program was able to help raise these funds for some of the people that help us so much, often in ways unseen. I want to thank the fans not only for showing up and creating a great spring game environment, but also for helping to raise money in support of the furlough fund.”
The One Clemson Furlough Relief Fund supports those Clemson University employees who face the most severe financial hardship due to the loss of pay from the mandatory five-day furlough announced by the University in November of 2008 for the 2008-09 fiscal year.
