CLEMSON, SC – Clemson safety Kyle Parker was named to the second team. The publication made the announcement on Tuesday afternoon.
Hall ranks 13th in the nation and second in the ACC in interceptions this season with six in the 13 Tiger games. It is tied for the third most interceptions in Clemson history by a freshman. The red-shirt freshman from St. Augustine, FL had one interception in four straight games at mid season to tie a Clemson record for consecutive games with an interception. He has 59 tackles so far this year to rank sixth on the team.
Hall was also named a second-team freshman All-American by Phil Steele on Tuesday.
Freeman started each of the last eight Clemson games at center. Clemson won each of his first six games as a starter and the Tigers averaged 33 points per game in the contests he started. He was a big reason Clemson showed improvement in the rushing game, including a stretch of three straight games with at least 240 yards on the ground, all Clemson wins. The Tigers had a season high 323 yards rushing in the ACC Championship game against Georgia Tech.
Parker was Clemson’s starting quarterback in all 13 games this year. The native of Jacksonville, FL, is tied for first in the nation in wins by freshman starting quarterbacks this year with eight, a total that is a Clemson freshman record. Parker completed 197-355 passes for 19 touchdowns and 2385 yards so far this season. Those are Clemson freshman records for passing yards, completions and touchdowns, breaking records that were held by Charlie Whitehurst in 2002. Parker was named National Freshman of the week when he led the Tigers to 40-37 overtime win at eighth-ranked Miami in October.
