CLEMSON, SC – Marcus Gilchrist, Jarvis Jenkins and DeAndre McDaniel will all play in the 2011 Under Armour Senior Bowl on Saturday, January 29 at Ladd-Peebles Stadium in Mobile, AL. The game will kickoff at 3:00 PM and will be televised by the NFL Network, who will also show many of the practices next week.
Gilchrist, Jenkins and McDaniel are three of the 18 ACC players participating in the game. Nine of the 12 ACC teams have at least one representative. It marks the third straight year Clemson has had three players invited to the game. Last year, Jacoby Ford, Ricky Sapp were invited, but only Ford played in the game.
The three seniors all played on Clemson’s defense that finished 13th in the nation in scoring defense in 2010. McDaniel was the team’s top tackler with 84 and he added a team best four interceptions. He finished his Clemson career tied for second in career interceptions with 15, and was a two-time All-American and two-time first-team All-ACC selection.
Jenkins finished ninth on the team in tackles with 53, including nine tackles for loss. Jenkins was a first-team All-ACC selection in 2010 when he also had 16 quarterback pressures. Only Da’Quan Bowers had more.
Gilchrist finished fourth on the team in tackles with 66. He led the team in passes broken up with 10 and added one interception. He also ranked in the top five in the ACC in punt returns (10.1 average) and kickoff returns (23.7 yards per return).
