Tajh Boyd Injury Update – Sunday, October 9

CLEMSON, SC – Clemson quarterback Tajh Boyd has been upgraded to probable for the Tigers game with Maryland on Saturday. Head Coach Dabo Swinney said on his Sunday media teleconference that Boyd was much improved on Sunday when he was examined by Clemson Head Athletic Trainer Danny Poole.

Boyd suffered a strained hip when he was tackled after completing a five-yard pass to Dwayne Allen on Clemson’s first drive of the third period in the Tigers 36-14 win over Boston College. Boyd left the field with assistance. He was 16-26 for 283 yards and a touchdown pass and added six rushes for 37 yards and a touchdown. He had 320 yards of total offense in just over a half.

“Tajh was feeling much better today,” said Swinney. “We really expect him to be back at practice full speed on Tuesday and be ready to play against Maryland.”

For the season, Boyd ranks first in the ACC in passing yards per game (290), total offense (310.3) and is second in touchdown passes (15). He has completed 119-194 for 15 touchdowns and just two interceptions. He ranks 14th in the nation in total offense and 16th in passing efficiency.

The native of Hampton, VA is a major reason Clemson ranks eighth in both the AP and USA Today polls this year, the highest ranking among ACC teams. The Tigers are 6-0 overall, 3-0 in the ACC. It is the first time since 2000 that Clemson has started 6-0 overall and 3-0 in the ACC. The Tigers already have three wins over top 25 teams, tied for second in the nation with Alabama and behind LSU’s four top 25 wins.
