Swinney Named #5 Recruiter in the Nation by

One year after being named one of the nation’s top-25 recruiters by, Clemson wide receivers coach DeAndre McDaniel from Tallahassee.

The 2006 season will be Swinney’s fourth at Clemson. He has helped the Tigers to seven top-25 wins, including three over top-10 teams, two bowl victories, and two top-25 finishes in his first three seasons at Clemson. Swinney’s recruiting efforts have also helped the Tigers to secure consecutive consensus top-25 recruiting classes, including the 2006 class that is ranked in the top-15 in the nation by several services. describes Swinney as “a fast-rising star in the recruiting world and the coaching world, Swinney landed the top player in Florida, DeAndre McDaniel.”

Swinney rounded out the top-five recruiters, which included Larry Johnson of Penn State at the top spot, followed by Rob Ianello of Notre Dame, Todd McNair of Southern Cal, and Rodney Garner of Georgia.
