CLEMSON, S.C. – With a 75-27 overall record including a 56-12 mark over the last five seasons, a 2015 ACC Championship and berth in the College Football Playoff National Championship, Clemson head football coach Dabo Swinney has established himself and the Clemson program among the nation’s best. This week, Swinney and Clemson reestablished their long-term plans to continue the remarkable trajectory with a new contract for the next six seasons.
“This new contract was important for us not only for what Dabo has accomplished in his eight seasons here but for what we know the program will continue to achieve – both on and off the field – for the foreseeable future,” Director of Athletics Dan Radakovich said.
“I’m excited and thankful for the opportunity to do what I love at such a great institution,” Swinney said. “We’ve built a solid foundation of success and will continue to work toward our goals of preparing young men for their future and being successful in everything we do.”
Along with being one of only two teams nationally to post at least 10 victories in each of the last five seasons, Clemson’s football team is one of only five FBS programs ranked in the top 10 percent in the NCAA’s Academic Progress Rate each of the last five years; joining Boise State, Duke, Northwestern and Rutgers. Clemson is the only FBS program nationally to finish each of the last five seasons in the top 25 of both polls on the field, and in the top 10 percent of APR scores in the classroom.
