South Carolina Athletic Hall of Fame to Honor Dantzler, Cunningham

Columbia, SC – Star quarterbacks Woody Danztler of Clemson and Todd Cunningham of Presbyterian College have been selected as co-male amateur athletes of the year by the South Carolina Athletic Hall of Fame (SCAHOF).

The pair will be honored on May 30th at 6pm at the Embassy Suites hotel in Columbia at the annual SCAHOF banquet along with 7 inductees. The class of 2002 includes former NFL stars Terry Kinard of Clemson, Sam DeLuca of USC, and Billy Thompson of Maryland State, Clemson’s Wayne “Tree” Rollins of the NBA as well as Air Force Academy coach Fisher DeBerry, former USC lineman Jim Moss and the late Harold Brasington, a NASCAR pioneer.

Banquet tickets can be purchased for $80 each or $500 for a table of eight. For reservations and more information, call 779-0905.

Dantzler, an Orangeburg native and the first player in NCAA history to reach 2000 yards passing and 1000 rushing in the same season, finished his career as Clemson’s all time passing efficiency leader. Cunningham, a former Irmo High star, ranks second in NCAA division II history in career passing touchdowns, touchdowns accountable and passing yardage.
