Clemson, SC – Sixteen former Clemson players, led by seven-time Pro Bowl performer Brian Dawkins, are on NFL rosters as the first full Sunday of games kicks off on September 13. The list includes five members of the 2008 team who will be playing their rookie seasons in the NFL.
The list of newcomers to the league includes James Davis (Cleveland Browns), Michael Hamlin (Dallas Cowboys), Chris Clemons (Miami Dolphins), Dorell Scott (St. Louis Rams) and Tyler Grisham (Pittsburgh Steelers). All are on the active roster except for Grisham, who is on the Steelers practice squad.
Davis finished his Clemson career second in rushing and first in rushing touchdowns. He had an 81-yard touchdown run during the preseason for the Browns and led the team in rushing. Hamlin finished his Clemson career second in career takeaways with 18, while Clemons was among the top tacklers in school history for the secondary.
The veterans on NFL rosters from Clemson include four-time Pro Bowl selection and two-time Super Bowl Champion Trevor Pryce, who is in his 13th season in the NFL. Brian Dawkins is now with the Denver Broncos after 13 years with the Philadelphia Eagles. He has been named to the NFL Pro Bowl seven times, fourth among safeties in the history of the League.
Other prominent former Tigers in the NFL include Gaines Adams (Tampa Bay Bucs), Chansi Stuckey (New York Jets), LeRoy Hill (Seattle Seahawks) and Nick Eason of the World Champion Pittsburgh Steelers.
The Miami Dolphins (Chris Clemons) and the Pittsburgh Steelers (Tyler Grisham) are the only two teams with more than one Tiger on it.
