Radio Sideline Commentators For Next Three Games Announced

The sideline commentators on the Clemson radio network have been announced for Clemson’s next three football games. Dave Cohen will handle the duties at this Saturday’s Clemson at Georgia Tech football game in Atlanta. Former Tiger Billy Davis will be on the sidelines at the October 4 Maryland game, and former Tiger Ray Williams will handle the duties for Clemson’s next home game against Virginia on October 11.

The announcement was made by the Clemson Athletic Department and Clemson Tiger Sports Properties, a joint venture of Learfield Communication and ISP Sports.Clemson Tiger Sports Properties plans to use a different sideline announcer for each game the remainder of the season. Most of the announcers will be former Clemson players.

Cohen is a resident of Atlanta and has experience doing play by play for the New York Yankees and Atlanta Braves. He has covered Clemson games for Fox Sports Net.

Davis played for Clemson from 1980-83 and held the school record for punt returns in a season prior to last season. He was a starting defensive back in 1982 and 1983. In 1982 he had a last second interception to clinch Clemson’s 24-22 victory at Maryland. Now he will be broadcasting from the same Byrd Stadium sidelines 21 years later. The 1984 Clemson graduate played in the NFL with the St. Louis Cardinals and now resides in northern Virginia.

Williams is a 1987 Clemson graduate and former football and baseball player for the Tigers. Williams was a starter on the gridiron for the Tigers from 1983-86 and is still ranks second in Clemson history in kickoff return yardage. As a wide receiver he had 86 receptions for 1290 yards. On the baseball diamond between 1984-87, he hit 34 career home runs, still 11th in Clemson history and stole 69 bases, still sixth in school history.
