Hyatt, Lawrence Collect ACC Weekly Honors

CLEMSON, S.C. — The Atlantic Coast Conference announced today that tackle Mitch Hyatt (Offensive Lineman of the Week) and quarterback Trevor Lawrence (Rookie of the Week) have collected ACC Player of the Week honors for their performances in Clemson’s 41-7 win against NC State on Saturday.

With the two selections, Clemson has now collected a total of 451 ACC weekly honors since 1978. Hyatt’s selection is his team-high third of the season, joining honors garnered following wins at Texas A&M and vs. Syracuse. The selection is the seventh of his career, tying him with Keith Adams for the sixth-most by a Clemson player since 1978.

Last week, Hyatt graded out at 95 percent with two knockdowns, according to the team’s coaching staff. He and the offensive line helped power Clemson to 471 yards of offense, including 380 passing yards just one game after the team rushed for more than 400 yards at Wake Forest.

Lawrence’s selection is second of his career, including his Rookie of the Week selection following the team’s win at Georgia Tech earlier this season. He is the 15th Clemson player to earn multiple Rookie of the Week honors in a single season since 1978, joining a list that includes Chuck McSwain, Henry Carter, Robert O’Neal, Terry Smith, Nelson Welch, Dexter McCleon, Anthony Simmons, James Davis, C.J. Spiller, Kyle Parker, Sammy Watkins, Deshaun Watson, Wayne Gallman and Travis Etienne.

Against NC State, Lawrence recorded career highs in completions (26), attempts (39) and passing yards (308) with one touchdown. He posted Clemson’s first 300-yard passing performance since Sept. 9, 2017 and led Clemson to a 34-point victory, tied for the second-largest margin of victory against an AP Top 25 team in school history.
