OFFENSIVE BACKClemson’s Derrick Hamilton (Dillon, S.C.) gained 256 all-purpose yards in leading Clemson to a 24-19 victory over Georgia Tech. The 6-4, 190-pound sophomore’s performance included 97 yards rushing, 96 yards in punt returns, 41 yards in kickoff returns and 22 yards in receptions.
OFFENSIVE LINE Florida State senior Brett Williams (Kissimmee, Fla.) posted a team-best grade of 92% in a 37-10 win over Maryland. The 6-6, 310-pound offensive tackle helped the Seminoles record 435 yards of total offense (266 passing and 169 rushing), while clearing the way for Greg Jones’ fifth consecutive 100-yard game.
DEFENSIVE LINE NC State defensive lineman Shawn Price (Haddon Heights, N.J.) had two tackles against Wake Forest, both of which were sacks totaling 20 yards in lost yardage for the Demon Deacons. After sacking Deacon QB James McPherson, the 6-2, 235-pound senior scooped up the fumbled ball and ran for a 13-yard touchdown that gave the Wolfpack a 29-13 lead. The Pack eventually took down Wake 32-13.
DEFENSIVE BACK NC State’s Terrance Holt (Gibsonville, N.C.) tied for second on the team with eight tackles, six of them unassisted, caused a fumble, and had four pass break-ups (a season-high for the Wolfpack) in a 32-13 win over Wake Forest. The senior free safety also blocked a 36-yard Wake Forest field-goal attempt, which was the 12th blocked kick of his career and set a new ACC single-season record.
SPECIALIST Florida State placekicker Xavier Beitia (Tampa, Fla.) connected on all three of his field goal attempts in the first half to give FSU a 30-0 lead. The 5-10, 210-pound sophomore was good on attempts from 44, 23 and 26 yards and booted five of his eight kickoffs into the end zone for touchbacks in Florida State’s 37-10 win over Maryland.
ROOKIE NC State’s T.A. McLendon (Albemarle, N.C.) was the Wolfpack’s scoring leader in the 32-13 win over the Deacons, scoring a pair of rushing touchdowns. The 6-2, 220-pound tailback carried the ball 11 times for 30 yards.
