Football Practice Update

March 27, 2003

Clemson lost two players for the remainder of spring practice during practice on Wednesday. Offensive lineman Kelvin Morris suffered a knee injury during the practice that took two-hours and 45 minutes.

Morris’s injury could be serious. He will be evaluated later in the week. Morris is slated to move into a starting linebacker position. He served as a reserve behind Altroy Bodrick last season. He had 44 tackles for the season, including a season high 13 in the Tangerine Bowl. The rising senior from Timmonsville, SC played in all 13 games last year, one as a starter.

DeBeer red-shirted the 2002 season as an offensive tackle. The 20-year-old tackle led his Marist High School team to a 9-2 record and a berth in the second round of the state playoffs two years ago. He was listed as a second-team tackle prior to the injury.

Clemson did scrimmage for an hour on Wednesday. One of the offensive highlights was a 75-yard run by Reggie Merriweather. One of the top defensive plays was a 60-yard interception return for a touchdown by reserve cornerback Ryan Hemby.
