Collegiate Sports Partners, Ltd. Awarded Clemson Rights

Birmingham, AL–Clemson University announced this week that Birmingham based Collegiate Sports Partners, Ltd has been awarded the radio and television marketing rights for Clemson University Athletic programs for a five-year period beginning July 1, 2000. The award, which became official on January 5, 2000, was made after receiving proposals from a number of premier companies in the collegiate sports marketing industry.

“We were extremely impressed by the proposal provided by Collegiate Sports Partners, Ltd, as well as the company’s history of innovative and forward thinking marketing programs,” said Bobby Robinson, Clemson Director of Athletics. ‘Collegiate Sports Partners, Ltd is uniquely situated to assist us as we move forward and build on the tremendous foundation created by the Clemson Sports Network and Mike Whitaker.”

The multimedia marketing agreement will provide College Sports Partners,Ltd with marketing, advertising and radio distribution rights of all official athletic department radio programming for the five-year period. Programming will include game day radio broadcasts, weekly coaches’ call-in shows, pre- and post-game shows and other special broadcasts. Collegiate Sports Partners, Ltd will also produce, sell advertising for and distribute coaches television shows for both Coach Tommy Bowden and Coach Larry Shyatt. Additionally, Collegiate Sports Partners, Ltd will provide support to other Clemson University Athletic Department promotional, marketing and sales activities.

Collegiate Sports Partners, Ltd is a full service sports marketing firm in Birmingham, AL. The company represents over 20 major universities for international licensing activities in association with SFX Entertainment. The principals involved have produced and distributed college sports radio and television programming throughout the country since 1987. “We are tremendously excited about the opportunity to work for the Clemson University Athletic Department,’ noted Ben May, Vice President of Collegiate Sports Partners, Ltd. “Clemson has a long tradition of outstanding academics and athletics that provide unique opportunities for marketing and promotional activities.’

Additionally, Collegiate Sports Partners, Ltd, through its relationship with COLLGGE SPORTS Southeast, will offer live, delay and replay television coverage of Clemson athletic events throughout the year. COLLEGE SPORTS Southeast is the first all college sports cable television network and is available to-cable subscribers throughout the southeastern region of the United States. Programming to be carried by COLLEGE SPORTS Southeast will include highlight replay broadcasts of all football games and men’s basketball games, as well as live and replay broadcasts of women’s basketball and baseball games.
