Saturday’s matchup will be the 10th meeting in history between the two programs. Miami has a 6-3 edge, but the road team has won each of the last four games in the series.
The Tigers have defeated the Hurricanes in overtime on their previous two trips to Miami. In 2004, Tommy Bowden’s team upset the 11th-ranked Hurricanes 24-17 and in 2009, Dabo Swinney guided Clemson to a thrilling 40-37 triumph.
Eleven players on Clemson’s travel roster that call the state of Florida home will be making the trip this weekend. The list includes starters Mackensie Alexander, Travis Blanks, Jayron Kearse, Jordan Leggett and Artavis Scott.
Clemson owns six wins in Sun Life Stadium, most recently a 40-35 victory over Ohio State in the 2014 Orange Bowl.
Deshaun Watson produced 452 yards of total offense and earned the Leather Helmet Award in the 34-17 win over Boston College as the most outstanding player. He was also named ACC Offensive Back of the Week for his efforts.
For the second straight week, center Jay Guillermo was named ACC Offensive Lineman of the Week. He graded 88 percent against the Eagles, and helped pave the way for 500+ yards of total offense against the nation’s top-rated total defense entering the game.
