Each member institution shall be responsible for having the capability of determining when lightning strikes are within specified distances of the competition site for all outdoor sports.

When lightning is detected within 12 miles of the competition site, home team game management shall utilize the public address system to inform those in attendance that inclement weather including lightning is within 12 miles and that should patrons wish to vacate the facility for a safe shelter, they will be allowed to re-enter with a ticket stub.

When lightning is detected within six (6) miles of the competition site, the competition shall be suspended by the referee upon notification by host game management personnel. Competition may be resumed when lightning is no longer within the six-mile range.
