Clemson scored three touchdowns in 4:05 time period in thefourth period against Duke. That was the quickest Clemson hasscored three touchdowns since the 2000 Missouri game when Clemsonscored three touchdowns in a 3:14 time period. The record is threetouchdowns in a 2:30 time period against Maryland in 1988. Clemsontackle leaders off the coach’s film on Sunday were Rodney Thomas(19), Eric Sampson (15), John Leake (14), Nick Eason (7, including2 sacks). Clemson is eighth in the nation in interceptions by itsdefense with 15. The Tigers are 21st in the nation in forcingturnovers. Charlie Whitehurst completed 9-15 passes for 148 yardsand two scores on third and fourth down plays. Five times duringthe game he completed a 3rd of 4th and 8 or more. Clemson receiversKevin Youngblood, J.J. McKelvey and Derrick Hamilton all rank inthe top 75 in the nation in receptions per game. They have combinedfor 127 receptions this year, including 25 against Duke. That was aClemson record for receptions by three receivers combined in thesame game. Each had a touchdown catch. Derrick Hamilton is now 16thin the nation in all-purpose running with 151.9 yards per game.Clemson has two of the top 22 players in the nation in terms ofinterceptions. Justin Miller is 22nd. Clemson is now 13th in thenation in the Jeff Sagarin schedule ranking. Clemson had a seasonhigh nine passes broken up and three interceptions for 12 totalpasses defensed against Duke.
