This is the 11th time Clemson has faced a top 25 South Carolina, the third year in a row. It is the first time that Clemson has faced three straight top 25 South Carolina teams.
South Carolina was ranked 18th by AP and 17th by USA Today entering the 2010 game at Clemson. Last year both teams were ranked in the top 20, as South Carolina was 13th in AP and 14th in USA Today, while Clemson was 18th and 17th respectively. Both are ranked in the top 25 again coming into this year’s game. The Tigers are ninth in USA Today and 12th in AP, while South Carolina is 12th by USA Today and 13th by AP.
This will be the sixth time both schools have entered the game ranked in the top 25 of at least one of the polls. South Carolina has a 3-2 lead in games in which both teams are ranked in the top 25 entering the contest.
This is the second time in history both teams enter the game ranked in the top 15. The only other time was in 1987 in Columbia when Clemson was eighth in both polls and South Carolina was 12th. South Carolina won that contest 20-7.

The two schools have combined for 19 wins entering the regular season finale, more than any other meeting in the history of the event. Clemson is 10-1 and South Carolina 9-2 entering the contest. It is actually the second straight year that record has been broken. Last year both schools were 9-2 entering the game for a total of 18 wins.
Both schools also combined for 16 wins entering the 1981 game, the 1984 game, and the 1987 contest.
