48 Clemson Student-Athletes Earn Diplomas

May 9, 2003

Clemson, SC – Forty-eight Clemson student-athletes earned degrees during morning and afternoon ceremonies at Littlejohn Coliseum on Friday. The list included 12 Clemson football players, more than any other sport.

The list of Tiger gridders who earned degrees was led by wide receiver Jackie Robinson, a five-time member of the ACC Academic Honor Roll, who earned his Master’s degree in Human Resource Development on Friday. Robinson earned an undergraduate degree and Master’s in just five years.

The graduates on Friday also included returning starters J.J. Howard and Gregory Walker. They will be joined as graduates on Tommy Bowden’s 2003 team by starters William Henry, Khaleed Vaughn, DeJuan Polk and Kevin Youngblood will receive his degree in August.

Also earning undergraduate degrees on Friday were former Tiger football players Braxton K. Williams, and Javis Austin. Seniors on the 2002 team who earned diplomas on Friday included Joe Bever, Rodney Feaster, Charles Harper, Wynn Kopp, Jeff Scott, Britt Sherman and Bradley Vaughan.

The Clemson basketball program had four graduates on Friday. Former men’s players Jermel Douglas, Walker Holt and Tomas Nagys earned degrees on Friday. Seniors Edward Scott and Ray Henderson should join them in August. Lady Tiger great Chrissy Floyd, a member of the ACC 50-Year Anniversary team, also earned her degree on Friday.

Other noteworthy graduates on Friday included baseball starter Kyle Frank, All-ACC women’s soccer player Heather Beem, All-Region Volleyball player Jesse Betcher, former All-ACC rower Aimee Fox, and All-ACC diver Craig Thomas.
