Woods, Terrell Named AP All-Americans

CLEMSON, S.C. — The Associated Press announced on Monday that defensive tackle Peter Woods and cornerback Avieon Terrell have been named to the wire service’s 2025 AP All-America Team.

The Associated Press is one of five NCAA-recognized selectors toward consensus and unanimous All-America honors. The others include the American Football Coaches Association, the Football Writers Association of America, Sporting News and the Walter Camp Football Foundation. The duo’s honors this season represent Clemson’s 87th and 88th all-time selections to the AP All-America Team.

Woods earned inclusion on the second team for his junior season in which he was credited by the coaching staff with 40 tackles, including 3.5 tackles for loss and 2.0 sacks in his 12 starts. After being limited by injury a year earlier, a healthy campaign from the first-team All-ACC selection helped Clemson improve from a No. 85 national ranking in run defense (160.64 yards allowed per game) in 2024 to 14th in that category in 2025 (102.83).

Woods, who was also a second-team All-America selection by USA Today, became the first Clemson defensive tackle to garner AP All-American status since Christian Wilkins’ unanimous All-America sweep in 2018. Woods is the sixth interior defensive lineman in Clemson history to receive All-America honors from the AP, joining William Perry (three), Wilkins (two) and Jim Stuckey, Rob Bodine and Carlos Watkins (one each).

Terrell also started all 12 games for the Tigers as a junior in 2025 and earned a third-team selection from the AP after collecting 46 tackles (4.5 for loss) and 11 pass breakups according to the team’s coaching staff in addition to recording five forced fumbles and a fumble recovery. The Jim Thorpe Award semifinalist and first-team All-ACC pick joined Brandon Maye (five in 2009) and T.J. Parker (six in 2024) as the only players in school history to force five fumbles in a single season, setting both the single-season (five) and career (eight) record for forced fumbles by a defensive back at Clemson.

Terrell became the 12th different defensive back and sixth different cornerback in Clemson history to be named as an AP All-American. He becomes Clemson’s first cornerback honored by the AP since Cordrea Tankersley’s third-team selection in 2016.

Woods and Terrell helped Clemson overcome a 1-3 start to finish the regular season 7-5 and reach bowl eligibility for the 27th consecutive year. Clemson will face Penn State in the 2025 Bad Boy Mowers Pinstripe Bowl on Saturday, Dec. 27.
