We started our third day at American Express with the help of our lead, Edmond Bowers, who graduated from Clemson and is now is the SVP of Investor Relations at Amex. He ledour discussion and fieldedquestions with the help of his team from Marketing, Human Resources, and Commercial Services. Topics ranged from global marketing, consumerism, product development, and branding. Listening to the diverse range of topics gave our guys an incredible opportunity to learn and grow from the different faces of American Express.
Later in the afternoon, we met with our second company of the day, Credit Suisse. Credit Suisse is a Swiss investment banking company that works on leveraging credit and trading. First,we were welcomed to a networking lunch where different employees came todialogue with our guys about their interests and how it can translate over into the finance world. We then had an opportunity to tour the trading floor and hear from their different traders on how money works in relation to stocks. We heard about topics ranging from debt capital, global credit, and leveraging credit.
The culmination of the week was our alumni social networking event. We had a great time networking and talking with Clemson Alumni that now are professionals in the New York area. Our scholar-athletes introduced themselves and expressed what they gained from the week, as well as shared their experiences and how they plan to implement what they’ve learned. Former players that attended the event also addressed the group, commending the work of P.A.W. Journey. Following addresses, the networking continued, giving many of our guys the opportunity to establish meaningful relationships and gain experience from the event.
