Tigers Drop Decision to ETSU

Clemson, S.C. — The Clemson men’s tennis team fell to 7-6 on the season as it dropped a 4-1 decision to East Tennessee State on Saturday afternoon at the Duckworth Family Tennis Facility.

Clemson took the doubles point, winning on courts one and two. No. 1 pair Gabriel Diaz Freire and Carlos Kelaidis defeated Chris Mikrovas and Frazier Rengifo, 6-3, while Teodor Giusca and Jacob Jahn downed Juan Lugo and Yusuf Khamis,6-3, at line two. Despite earning the doubles point, the Tiger dropped four-straight singles matches to fall 4-1.

Of Note:

  • It marks the first time in program history that Clemson has lost a match to ETSU.

Up Next: The Tigers head to Winston-Salem, N.C. on Friday to take on No. 14 Wake Forest at 3 p.m. Clemson returns to action at the Duckworth Family Tennis Facility on Sunday, March 15 when it hosts Notre Dame.
