DALLAS, Texas – The No. 23 Clemson Tigers improved their record to 15-1 as they recorded their fourth consecutive conference win after securing a 4-2 victory over the SMU Mustangs (9-10, 0-4) on Sunday afternoon in Dallas.
Clemson is currently undefeated in conference play with a record of 4-0 this spring.
In doubles, SMU was first to record a win on court two but Clemson was quick to respond as Wissam Abderrahman and Romain Gales took down Vikas Deo and Xavier Calvelo 6-3 on court three. Clinching the point for the Tigers was the No. 56 duo of Max Smith and Noa Vukadin shut down SMU’s Georgi Georgiev and Ofek Shimanov 6-4 on court one.
The Tigers continued to battle in singles as freshman Viktor Markov was the first to secure a victory as he topped No. 115 SMU’s Jerry Barton 6-3, 6-2 on court three. SMU responded with two singles wins on court four and one to tie the match at 2-2.
Vukadin, who is ranked 58th in singles, helped Clemson take the lead as he defeated Georgi Georgiev in a three set battle with the final being 3-6, 6-2, 6-4. Sealing the win for the Tigers was Gales as he tabbed a 6-4, 7-6(6) victory over SMU’s Louis Cloud.
