Tigers Defeat Memphis 5-2 On the Road

MEMPHIS, Tenn. – The Clemson Tigers (3-0) secured their first road win of the spring season as they took down Memphis (1-2), 5-2 on Sunday afternoon at Leftwich Tennis Center.

“Glad to get our first road win of the season,” Head Coach Brandon Wagner said. “Our guys came through in some close big moments in doubles today. We had some great singles performances today and we are looking forward to preparing for another road test outdoors next week.”

Clemson started off strong in doubles as the duo of Wissam Abderrahman and Romain Gales were first to win on court three as they defeated Memphis’ Kudernatsch and Carvalho, 6-3. Securing the doubles point for Clemson was the duo of Max Damm and Viktor Markov as they took down Alemany and Kouame, 7-6 on court two to give Clemson the 1-0 lead.

In singles, Clemson shined as four Tigers earned wins on their respective courts. On court one, Noa Vukadin dominated as he took a 6-3, 6-0 victory over Conor Gannon to earn his second singles win of the season. Sophomore Marko Mesarovic secured a 6-2, 6-2 win over Memphis’ Vizoso on court six while freshman Markov won 6-3, 6-4 on court two against Alemany.

Abderrahman secured the fourth and final singles victory for Clemson as he completed a comeback win by defeating Kouame, 4-6, 6-3, 10-7  after dropping the first set and winning the final two to give the Tigers the 5-2 overall victory.
