SOUTH BEND, Ind. – In its final regular season match of 2019, the Clemson men’s tennis team was overpowered by 27th-ranked Notre Dame, falling 5-0 on the road at the Courtney Tennis Center on the Irish’s campus on Sunday afternoon. With the loss, the Tigers conclude the regular season at 9-16 (2-10 ACC), while Notre Dame finishes at 14-13 (5-7 ACC).
Pierre-Louis Dodens and Jacob Jahn defeated their Irish opponents by a score of 6-2 at No. 2 doubles, but Notre Dame was victorious on Courts 1 and 3 to clinch the doubles point. In singles play, the Irish won by retirement at No. 3, and then consecutively at No. 4, No. 6 and No. 5 singles to solidify the win. When the match was abandoned, Simon Baudry was in the first set, a 6-5 battle against Notre Dame’s top singles played, at No. 1.
