DiFazio Is Defeated at Roger Beasley Volvo 2010 Hill Country Classic The senior reached the tournament’s main draw

AUSTIN, TX–Clemson’s men’s tennis player, Derek DiFazio was defeated by Ben Chen of the University of Texas 7-6, 6-3 in the first round of the Roger Beasley Volvo 2010 Hill Country Classic in Austin, TX.

DiFazio ran into fellow qualifier and tough opponent Ben Chen. The first set went the distance by going to a tiebreak where Chen edged out DiFazio 7-3. In the second set Chen played very well and went on to win 6-3. Chen is currently #1520 in the ATP world rankings, and plays on the University of Texas Tennis Team.

While competing in the tournament, DiFazio found out about the loss of his grandmother.

“We are all very proud of the progress Derek made this week,” said Assistant Men’s Tennis Coach John Boetsch. “Derek competed hard today, and did it with a heavy heart. He was very close to his grandmother, and our thoughts and prayers go out to the DiFazios and their extended family with the loss of their loved one.”
