Clemson Finishes Day One of Clemson Spring Classic with 5-2 Won Over Tennessee Tech

Clemson, SC — The Clemson Men’s Tennis Team defeated Tennessee Tech 5-2 to wrap up day one of the Clemson Spring Classic on Friday night at Sloan Tennis Center.

Clemson began the match by winning the doubles point. Goran Sterijovski and Damiisa Robinson dropped their match at number one doubles to Marco Born and Luis Aguerrevere 8-5. Brett Twente and Ryan Young were able to earn a victory at the number three doubles. Nathan Thompson and John Boetsch were able to clench the doubles point with an 8-6 victory over Will Chappell and Razvan Ilie at flight two doubles.

In singles competition, Thompson, Boetsch, Young, and Robbye Poole were able to earn straight set victories for the Tigers at the numbers one, four, five, and six position matches. Clemson’s Robinson dropped his match to Ilie in straight sets at the number three position. Sterijovski was able to claim the first set against Born at the flight two match, but lost in a third set tiebreaker 6-7, 6-4, 7-6(9-7).

Clemson improves to 11-2 with the victory. The Tigers will return to action on Sunday as they conclude the Clemson Spring Classic.
