Clemson Defeats Navy and Dartmouth in Men’s Tennis Doubleheader

CLEMSON, South Carolina – The Clemson men’s tennis team defeated Navy 7-0 and Dartmouth 7-0 in a men’s intercollegiate tennis doubleheader at Clemson, SC Saturday afternoon.

With the win, Clemson improves to 6-4 overall. Navy is now 8-5 on the year, while Dartmouth falls to 2-7 this season.

Wes Moran improved his overall singles record to a team best 12-3 this season as he won over Ramsey Lemaich of Navy 6-2, 6-2 and had a victory over Ari Gayer of Dartmouth 6-1, 6-2. Both of these victories came at number five singles.

The Tigers’ Gera Boryachinsky won both of his matches at number one singles as he won over Nate Nelms of Navy 6-2, 6-0. He later won the afternoon match with a 6-3, 7-5 victory over Daniel Freeman of Dartmouth.

Clemson will play host to ACC rival Georgia Tech on Wednesday, March 4, at the Hoke Sloan Tennis center on the Tigers’ campus. Match time is set for 2:30 p.m.

“I’m very proud of our team and the way our players went out and stepped up,” said Clemson Head Coach Chuck McCuen.

“We had two players sit out and everyone showed character and gave great effort in today’s matches. We fought hard against two quality opponents. I think today’s matches will prove to our players just how mentally and physically prepared we really are at this stage of the season. We must now focus on getting ready for Georgia Tech. They are a well-coached team.”

When Clemson meets Georgia Tech on Wednesday, it will mark the 49th meeting between the two schools. Clemson leads the overall series, 26-22. The series started in 1925.
