CLEMSON, SC – Clemson defeated the College of Charleston 5-2 in a men’s intercollegiate tennis match at Clemson, SC Tuesday night.

With the win, Clemson improves to 5-0 overall, while the College of Charleston falls to 1-1 this season. The Tigers are ranked 64th nationally in the latest ITA poll.

The Tigers’ Kevin Galloway remained undefeated in dual match play this season as he defeated Mickael Boyer at number four singles 6-1, 6-1. This season, Galloway is 5-0 in dual matches and 9-5 overall in singles play.

This was the 34th meeting between Clemson and the Cougars on the tennis courts. Clemson now leads the series 24-10. The series began on April 14, 1930.

The 2010 season marks the 100th year of men’s tennis at Tigertown. Clemson first sponsored men’s tennis in 1910 when two Tiger tennis players entered the annual state tournament.

Clemson will play at Furman Thursday afternoon at 2:00 p.m. in Greenville, SC. This will be the 93rd meeting between the Tigers and the Paladins in men’s tennis. The Tigers lead the overall series 73-18-1. The series began on April 17, 1923 as the Tigers won a 3-0 match at Clemson.
