Clemson Concludes Day One at Southern Intercollegiate Championships in Athens, GA

ATHENS, GA—Clemson’s Hunter Harrington and Austin Ansari both advanced to the second round of the First Flight Division of the Southern Intercollegiate Men’s Tennis Championships at Athens, GA Friday.

Harrington, seeded fifth in the tournament, defeated Crescente Lesser of the College of Charleston 6-3, 6-4.   Ansari defeated Jaan Kononov of Armstrong 6-3, 6-4.   In the second flight of the tournament, Luke Johnson of Clemson defeated Paul Polarczyk of South Florida 6-3, 6-4.   Daniel Strawn defeated Jesse Flores of Central Florida 6-1, 7-5.   In Flight One Doubles, Harrington and Strawn defeated Jorge Azuero and Shea Thomas of Liberty 8-6.    The Tigers’ Dominique Maden and Luke Johnson defeated Everth Dzib and Paul Polarczyk of South Florida 8-2.  Both Clemson teams will play in round of 16 action today.
