BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – Simon Baudry went 4-0 in qualifying matches to earn a spot in the main draw of the Players Choice Open ITF Futures tournament in Birmingham, Ala. this week.
In his first matchup, Baudry defeated American Joshua Lawrence, Jr. in straight sets, 6-0, 6-0, moving on to take on American Trevor Foshey, who he topped in three sets, 6-2, 3-6, 6-3. In his next match, he emerged victorious, 6-0, 6-2, over Australian Patrick Harper, who held a singles ranking of 1724. Finally, the Bordeaux, France native-turned Tiger bested American Kyle Johnson, 7-6(7), 6-1 to advance to the main draw of the tournament.
Baudry is set to begin play in the main draw on Wednesday when he faces Filip Cristian Jianu of Romania. Jianu has a singles ranking of 1274.
