Virginia Tech Defeats Clemson 5-2

CLEMSON, SC–Patrick Nyrarko and Brent Dillie both scored two goals each in leading Virginia Tech to a 5-2 win over third-ranked Clemson in an Atlantic Coast Conference men’s soccer match at Blacksburg, VA Saturday night.

With the win, Virginia Tech improves to 9-4-1 overall and 2-3-1 in the ACC. Clemson falls to 10-3-1 overall and 2-3-1 in league play.

Both Marcus Reed and Ben Nason had two assists each in the match for the Hokies.

Virginia Tech scored two goals in the first half and took a 2-0 lead as Nyrarko scored two goals. In the second half, Dillie scored early and the Hokies took a 3-0 lead.

Clemson scored in the 59th minute as Mark Buchholz scored on a penalty kick.

Charles Campbell and Dillie added two more goals for Virginia Tech, before Clemson’s Frederico Moojen added a goal in the 72nd minute.

The Tigers will play host to UNC-Asheville on Wednesday, October 18, at 7:00 p.m. in Clemson’s next action.
