Top-ranked Tigers fall to Duke, 2-0.

DURHAM, N.C. – Jay Heaps scored one goal and assisted on the other in leading fourth-ranked Duke to a 2-0 win over Clemson in an Atlantic Coast Conference men’s soccer match at Durham, NC Sunday afternoon. Duke scored both goals in the last 17:30 of the game.

The Blue Devils improve their record to 6-0 on the year and 1-0 in the ACC. Clemson falls to 5-1 overall, and 1-1 in leauge play. Duke is ranked fourth in Soccer America and fifth in the NSCAA. Clemson is ranked first in Soccer America and third in the NSCAA.

Matt Mayock scored first for Duke at the 72:30 mark with assists by Keven Sakuda and Heaps.

The Blue Devils’ second goal was scored with under five minutes remaining in the game (85:17). Heaps scored from asssts by Noah Lewkowitz and Miles Romm.

Clemson will play host to Central Connecticut in the Tigers’ next action on Wednesday, September 23, at 7:00 p.m.
